Newton's oldest park, Military Park, was established in 1875. It is home to Newton Public Library and Steam Locomotive #1880, which was donated to the City by Santa Fe Railroad in 1955.
Shaded by mature trees, Military Park offers a natural oasis in the middle of downtown. The swings out front are a favorite stop for young families visiting the library. The large grassy area provides ample space for community gatherings, weekday picnic lunches, or simply a stroll in the sunshine. Whether you're planning a playdate, organizing a small event, or just looking for a peaceful spot to unwind, Military Park offers a little something for everyone.
