Dog Licensing Information

All dogs 6 months old or older in the City of Newton must be licensed. Animal Licenses are issued in the Water Billing Office on the first floor of City Hall, 201 E. 6th St. To get an animal license, you must have proof of current rabies certificate and, if applicable, proof of the animal being spayed/neutered.

Fees are due on January 1 (later penalty fee applies after March 1).

Fees charged:

  • $10 - Neutered male or spayed female
  • $20 - Other dogs
  • $10 - Additional penalty if not paid by dates listed above

If a dog is micro-chipped, fees are reduced by $5.
