Established in 1937, Washington Park is a vibrant and historic green space in the heart of the community, spanning 9.43 acres of recreation, tradition, and natural beauty. This park is more than just a place to relax—it's a central hub for sports, family gatherings, and cultural events.
At the heart of Washington Park is a baseball/softball field that plays host to a wide range of events throughout the year. It’s the home field for Newton High School Junior Varsity baseball and softball, NRC adult leagues, and numerous community benefit tournaments. The park also proudly hosts the popular Newton Mexican American Tournament, drawing players and spectators from across the region.
For families and nature lovers, the park offers something for everyone. A nearby creek adds a touch of adventure—perfect for spotting local wildlife or taking a peaceful walk along its banks. Kids can burn off energy at the playground, while parents can unwind at shaded picnic tables and enjoy a cookout at one of the barbecue grills.
