Centennial Park
Centennial Park is home to multiple baseball, softball, and soccer fields, along with a dog park, pod park, disc golf course, playground area, BBQ grills and picnic tables, and a spacious open shelter. The park also features a bike repair station, several restroom facilities, shade trees, numerous parking areas, and wide open grassy areas perfect for games and activities.
Klein-Scott Field, Kenny Williams Field, Railer Field, and Roger Gillispie Field host a variety of games and tournaments throughout the season. The fields are utilized by Newton High School varsity baseball and softball teams, numerous Newton Recreation Center ball teams, American Legion Baseball, Newton Baseball Club, as well as the Newton Rebels. The fields are also utilized during the annual Newton Mexican American Tournament in July.
Dog Park
Centennial Dog Park was established in 2016 as a partnership between the City of Newton, Rotary Club, Caring Hands Humane Society, and Newton Dog Park Project. The fenced area is about 2 acres in size, with separate areas for large and small dogs, and water fountains for dogs and their humans. Owners are responsible for the behavior of their dogs at all times. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations, and dog waste must be cleaned up immediately. Limit of three dogs per person.
Pod Park
Established in 2002, this natural park is located northwest of the Blue Sky sculpture in Centennial Park and offers a peaceful, nature-inspired experience for all ages. Scattered along a 0.68-mile winding path, visitors will find unique "pods" crafted from recycled park materials such as rocks, tree logs, and stumps. These natural elements encourage exploration, quiet reflection, and light physical activity in a more organic setting. The trail is bordered by native grasses and wildflowers, creating a serene environment perfect for walking, observing nature, or simply enjoying the outdoors.
