Newton residents will have more opportunities to share their thoughts about the community's future at public events next month.
A two-day Planning & Design Workshop for the City of Newton’s new comprehensive plan, Newton Next, is set for Feb. 3-4. Community members and business owners are invited to join City planners and designers to continue building the comprehensive plan and to give feedback on conceptual designs.
“These sessions will directly impact Newton’s future,” City Manager Daniela Rivas said. “Our new comprehensive plan will be used by City planners and elected officials to make decisions for years to come — please join us to participate so we can make sure it reflects who we are as a community.”
The City’s comprehensive plan is a long-range policy document that guides the community’s future growth and development. It serves as a blueprint for decision-making on issues like land use, transportation, recreation, housing, and economic development. The plan articulates the community’s vision and values, ensuring that growth is managed in a cohesive and intentional manner.
Newton Next is an update of the City’s previous plan, ReNewton, which was developed in 2010 and whose goals have generally been accomplished.
