Reconstruction of South Spencer Road is moving to the next phase beginning Monday, Sept. 14, including closure of the intersection at Southeast 14th Connector.
The section of Spencer between Connector and Southeast 14th Street will remain open to southbound traffic only. Traffic on Spencer will not be able to turn onto SE 14th Connector and will need to find an alternate route.
The contractor, Kansas Paving, expects the intersection to be closed for 30 days.
Traffic headed to Spencer from SE 14th Street on the west side (at the South Kansas intersection) will be detoured north on Washington Road/Main Street, east on First Street, and then south on Spencer.
SE 14th Connector will remain accessible to local traffic accessing the intersections at South High, Logan, and SE 10th Street.
This is the final phase of the reconstruction of South Spencer, which began in spring 2025.
