Road work planned in southwest Newton

The City’s annual mill and overlay street maintenance will begin next week.

The contractor, Kansas Paving, will begin milling off asphalt on Monday, June 22, weather permitting, on the following streets:

• South Poplar (SW 14th to SW 11th, and SW 2nd to West 1st)
• Southeast 11th (Allison to Pine)
• Southeast 9th (Old Main to Allison)
• Hemlock Lane
• Allison (SE 10th to SE 9th)
• Indian Lane
• Southwest 7th (Old Main to Plum)
• Southeast 2nd (Main to Harrison)
• Southeast 36th (Magnolia to Duncan)

The contractor will deliver door hanger notices to adjacent property owners. Vehicles will not be allowed to park in the street during construction, and residents must make sure to have trash carts out at the curb before 7 a.m. on their collection day.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of August, weather permitting.
