The annual First Responder Holiday Helpers drive is underway — and we have a goal to assist 400 Harvey County families in need during the upcoming holiday season.
Holiday Helpers is led by the Harvey County Sheriff's Office and Newton Police Department, but is a partnership between all the emergency response agencies in our county. We seek financial donations in the months leading up to Christmas, which are used to purchase food items through Dillons. Dillons generously contributes a 10% match of its own.
In December, local emergency responders will visit the Dillons Distribution Center to box food donations. The boxes of food are dispersed to families in our community who could use a boost over the holidays. We've provided donations to nearly 2,000 families since its inception.
You can make a financial contribution by mail or in person at the Police Department, 120 E. 7th St. Checks can be made payable to First Responder Holiday Helpers.
Your generosity is the reason we've been able to continue this program over the years. We appreciate your support!
