At Tuesday’s meeting, the City Commission adopted updates to the City’s building codes to bring them up-to-date and more closely match the City of Wichita, where most Newton contractors also do business.

Water line work to affect East 1st traffic

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, the westbound lane of East First Street will be closed between High and Walnut as City crews work to repair a water leak in the 400 block of East First. The closure is expected to continue through the weekend.

Agencies continue response to underground gas release
