New Millennium logoColorado-based New Millennium Wind Energy announced in July 2011 that it will build its new manufacturing facility at the Kansas Logistics Park. The facility will manufacture an innovative “point of use,” high output, vertical-axis wind turbine.

The new facility is projected to employ about 70 people in the first year of operations, and more than 350 in the next three to four years. The company expects to commit $20 million to $30 million in resources over a five-year plan. The plant is expected to be operational by September 2012.

In November, Dondlinger Construction and TranSystems were selected as the design-build team for New Millennium's facility. Their proposal features an iconic structure with a curving roofline designed to mimic the wind and a glass tower topped with one of New Millennium’s vertical-axis wind turbines.

Groundbreaking is expected in early 2012.
