BUILDING

The City of Newton Building Inspection Office administers the adopted model codes pertaining to all areas of building construction by licensing contractors, reviewing plans, issuing permits and conducting inspections on all construction within the city.

The Building Inspection codes require permits and inspections for all construction with a value over $1,000 (or $500 in material cost for “do-it-yourself” projects). Building inspection also licenses building contractors, mechanical contractors, electrical contractors, and plumbing contractors.
