The Support Services Division contains the School Resource Officers, the Animal Control Officer, the Parking Control Officer, the School Crossing Guards, and the Reserve Officers and Cadets.  The Support Services Lieutenant oversees the department in-service training, community programs, the Emergency Response Team and is the department's Crime Analyst.

The Support Services Division is commanded by Lt. Bryan Hall.

 We have partnered with RAIDS Online, the public crime mapping program of Bair Analytics, to provide citizens with information about criminal activity in Newton.  Once at the RAIDS Online website, type Newton, KS in the search bar (or a more specific address) to find out about crime in Newton.

Support Services Division Units 

  • School Resource Officer Unit - The School Resource Officer Unit consist of 3 School Resource Officers (SRO). The SRO's are assigned to the Newton High School, the middle schools or the elementary schools..
  • Animal Control Unit - The Animal Control Unit has a single Animal Control Officer (ACO). The ACO works regular business hours and is responsible for enforcing ordinances pertaining to animals.
  • Parking Control Unit - The Parking Control Unit has one part-time Parking Control Officer. The Parking Control Officer is responsible for enforcing Newton parking ordinances.
  • Emergency Response Team - The Emergency Response Team has members from multiple Harvey County Agencies and is used for high-risk operations.
  • Reserve Officers and Cadet Program - The Reserve Officer and Cadet Program allows volunteers to assist the Newton Police Department and the City of Newton with athletic events, community activities and assisting patrol unit.
