POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Newton Police Department is a department of 32 commissioned officers and 4 civilian employees. We provide service to a population of approximately 18,000 people within 11 square miles.
Mission of the Department
Our mission is to work in partnership with the community to provide prompt, professional police services that place an emphasis on enhancing the quality of life, while maintaining respect for individual rights and human dignity, building confidence and respect between the Citizens of Newton and their Police Department.
Organization
The police Department has 3 divisions; Operations, Investigations and Support Services.
Operations: 1 Lieutenant, 3 Sergeants, 3 corporals, 14 Patrol Officers, 1 Animal Control Officer, 1 Parking Control Officer, 1 Warrant/Bailiff Officer, and Reserves / Cadets.
Investigations: 1 Sergeant, 2 Detectives, 2 Narcotics Task Force Officers.
Support Services: 1 Lieutenant, 2 Records Clerks, 2 School Resource Officers, and Crossing Guards.
