It offers a playground structure, skate park, and benches. The recreation center with indoor pool, wellness center, volleyball, basketball, and racquetball courts is located in the center of this block.
In the past year, a concrete surface, complete with a curved transition berm and deck, has been constructed to provide a base for new skate park equipment. The equipment includes ramps, quarter pipes, jump boxes and other amenities. This entire block is maintained by the Newton Recreation Commission. |

Walking along the bike path is a relaxing and natural experience. Many ducks and geese gather along the banks as community friends exercise or fish. Restrooms are located in Athletic Park, 10th and Ash Park (about half way), and at Centennial Park seasonally.
Pause points with benches are provided at various locations along the path. Plans are underway to connect the bike path across First Street up the railway and a northern connection to the path on Bethel College campus. |

The shelter contains four 8-foot tables with approximate room for 32 people. The shelter can be rented by calling the Newton Recreation Commission at 316-283-7330. More picnic tables and trash cans can be provided upon request. The shelter was painted in the summer of 2002, and all fixtures were replaced in the restrooms in 2003. There is a youth ballfield with new fencing, along with a soccer field that can be used as open space. A new playground structure was added in 2003. There are also several benches and tables for comfort, and the Bike Path runs adjacent to the park.

The baseball fields host the high school, American Legion, and Babe Ruth games. The other fields are used for youth ball games. The soccer fields host a variety of teams, from youth to an adult league out of Wichita. There is an open shelter with restrooms, playground for the kids, BBQ grills and picnic tables located inside the circle drive. The shelter will hold approximately 32 people. Centennial is adjacent to the bike path. To the northwest of the main park is a sledding hill that is utilized whenever the city gets snow cover.

This park is home to the 1880 locomotive along with a Civil War cannon and a Civil War Unknown Dead Memorial. This park also has an enclosed shelter with fireplace and restrooms that are open seasonally next to a playground structure. The shelter holds four 8-foot picnic tables that can seat approximately 32 people. Additional picnic tables and trash cans can be provided upon request.

The softball diamond is used for adult softball as well as varsity high school softball. Newton High School and Bethel College play home football games at Fischer Field. The bandshell and green space are used for many festivals and concerts. The newly renovated basketball court is lighted for after dark play. The horseshoe pits, tennis courts, and volleyball pits are used by many for recreation. The Newton Municipal Pool helps the community cool off in the summer months.
The gazebo is in a wooded area and has been used for everything from company picnics to weddings to Shakespeare in the park. The restrooms are open seasonally and are scattered throughout the park.
There is a large open shelter in the north east corner of the park as well as an enclosed small shelter. The large open shelter has six 8-foot tables under it that can hold up to 48 people. The small-enclosed shelter can hold approximately 20 people. There are two small open shelters on the western side of the park that will hold approximately 16 people each.
