CITY OF NEWTON ENGINEERING DIVISION
The City of Newton Engineering Division falls Under the Public Works Department
in the City of Newton Organizational Chart. The Engineering Division consists of
engineering, building inspection and zoning, and environmental control. Suzanne
Loomis, P.E., Director of Public Works /City Engineer heads this division.
MISSION STATEMENT
To serve Newton citizens by designing and maintaining infrastructure and administering
and enforcing zoning and code enforcement issues in a fair and impartial manner.
About the Engineering Division
The City of Newton Engineering Division designs all infrastructure development
in Newton, including roads, streets, water and sewer lines. The building inspection
portion of the engineering division administers and enforces building codes within
Newton, including all commercial and residential new construction and remodel projects
with a value over $500. Zoning administration handles enforcing the zoning ordinances,
include property use and setback variances. Our current projects can be viewed
