Newton Police began an investigation this morning into a double homicide at a residence in Roanoke Court, near the 2200 block of Roanoke Lane. The victims were 24-year-old Alyssa Runyon and her 4-year-old daughter, Zaylynn Paz.
An ex-boyfriend of Runyon called 911 around 11 a.m. today, reporting two deceased individuals in a duplex on Roanoke Court.
Officers found Runyon and Paz inside bedrooms in the duplex. Paz had been stabbed. Runyon had been strangled. Hawkins used Runyon’s vehicle to flee.
