City introduces new mobile app

Post Date:11/08/2016 4:38 PM

Reporting potholes, graffiti and broken sidewalks just got a lot easier for Newton residents, with the introduction of the Newton Connect mobile app.

The City’s new app is built around a Citizen Request Management system that allows users to request services, such as bulky item pickup; submit crime tips to Newton Police; and report code violations and maintenance problems. Maps pinpoint the location, and users can even upload photos of the problem.

Requests are routed directly to the appropriate City departments, and users get notified when City staff has completed the request.

Newton Connect is also billed as a one-stop shop for local government information and services, from paying utility bills to contacting City officials. Other features include:

  • City news and announcements.
  • Community events calendar.
  • Listings for shops, restaurants and parks.
  • Job openings at the City.
  • Connections to City social media accounts.

The free app is available to download for iPhones and Android smartphones. If you don’t have a smartphone, you can still submit service requests by visiting www.newtonkansas.com/NewtonConnect.
